It's a pretty grueling time for a kid from Michigan walking around in the hot and humid Japanese summer, but I still manage to have fun. Of course, this could mainly be due to my generous summer vacation, but I think it is also because summer is a fun time in Japan.
There is no memorial day here. I couldn't say if there is a specific day when summer unofficially starts, but for me, it is the summer festival in my home town. I've had the pleasure of participating in it for four years so far and it is great.
Another Tokyo tradition is to visit Tokyo Disney Resort, which consists of two parks, Tokyo Disney Land and Tokyo Disney Sea. I like the latter, especially in the summer. While Tokyo Disney Land is a long day of standing in line and trekking across the park, Disney Sea\'s main attractions are shows you can sit down and enjoy. If you take it slowly, a day at Tokyo Disney Sea will wear you out a little, but you will manage to have a relaxing time.
